Dev Log #1: Weeks 1 - 3
At the beginning of development in Trimester 3, our group had issues with completing tasks, communicating ideas, and implementing assets and mechanics into an MVP build that was due at the end of Week 3.
These communication issues combined with multiple members being away for a week and other external life factors beyond our control resulted in an MVP that wasn’t as completed as we wished.
After presenting our game, we reflected on the status of the current build and the process we went through to get there, and discovered that we forgot what made the original vertical slice from last trimester scary: the monster pursuing the player constantly and time travel being limited to 10 seconds. We decided to combine the puzzle elements from the current MVP with what made the vertical slice scary.
We reflected on the leadership style, which was more ‘dictatorship’ based, which caused multiple issues in team motivation and miscommunication about what the gameplay was. This reflection led us to change the leadership style to motivation-based and encouraged us to communicate more clearly and more frequently about the status of the game.
